Print Pants
We've seen prints galore this season so far, but while tie-dye tops and techno-tribal dresses stepped into the spotlight first, the graphic trend is far from being over. Au contraire, dear readers, it's still revving up thanks to the styling choices of ladies like Rihanna and Whitney Port who are working these lively patterns into their wardrobes through eye-popping print pants. So forget about your standard solid-colored harems and wide-leg slacks—it's time to embrace trousers with energetic stripes, zippy zigzags, and animal prints instead! Frankly, we're a bit obsessed with these fabulously fresh pants, so if you're feeling a little quirky and bold too, check out today's Trend Report for all the need-to-know facts and must-have buys.

While celebrity street style always inspires us to go from one day to the next in on-trend ensembles, your Who What Wear editors can't help but go ga-ga for a good gala. After all, we're magpies for a touch of sparkle and can be serious geeks for glitz, hence our excitement about the annual CFDA Fashion Awards! The ceremony, which took place on Monday night at Lincoln Center, is always a must-attend event and invariably attracts the leaders of the fashion pack wearing boldly beautiful looks. But before we get to the fabulous frocks and, ahem, killer pantsuit, a little background on this illustrious event!

Neon Nights
There's something about warm weather that makes people get a little frisky with their fashion choices—a sentiment that's particularly true on the red carpet right now! But rather than going for edgy silhouettes or barely-there dresses, tastemakers like Gwyneth Paltrow, Diane Kruger, and Kirsten Dunst are turning up the sartorial heat by opting for formal gowns in a slew of fluorescent hues.

What they wore - Met Gala 2010
When it comes to high-stakes, high-fashion events, nothing compares to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala. The ridiculously glamorous benefit always draws the creme de la creme of the glitterati and invariably produces the most intriguing red carpet of the year. Monday's soiree lived up to this reputation, as celebrities, models, and designers turned out in droves to celebrate 2010's exhibition—American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity. Co-hosted by Oprah Winfrey, who was resplendent in a custom Oscar de la Renta navy silk organza embroidered gown, Gap's Patrick Robinson, and Vogue's Anna Wintour, the Met Gala attendees toasted American style in a most memorable way. We've gathered a few of our favorite looks of the night for your viewing pleasure, ranging from Chloe Sevigny's flawless teal frock to Alexa Chung's modern tuxedo. Read on for all the details and don't forget to tell us which ensembles you liked best—and why! (We always love to hear your thoughts.)

Heidi Mount
As a mom, major model, and muse to illustrious designers like Karl Lagerfeld, multitasking is just the name of the game for Heidi Mount. With a travel schedule that has her pinging from Paris to New York to LA and back, she manages to spend more time on the road in a month than most people do in their entire lives. (We just like the fact that she documents it all via Twitter in her signature down-to-earth way.) Considering Mount's peripatetic lifestyle, it only makes sense that her fashion sensibilities are just equally nuanced and varied. Whether she's dressed for downtown or showing off a dramatic evening look at a red carpet event, Mount is always one to watch.

Skater Dresses!
Though the Olympics are technically over, the athletic spirit is still very much alive in the fashion world. The spring shows were full of sporty styles—from Hermes' timeless tennis classics to Bottega Veneta's take on the karate jacket to Alexander Wang's all-American football theme—which are sure to inspire competitors and non-jocks alike. In addition to the aforementioned games, we recently noticed yet another new sport has stepped into the trendsetter arena: figure skating. As one of the most beloved events at the Winter Games, it's no surprise that this flamboyant contender would be next in line to influence fashion's heavy hitters. Beautiful silhouettes with flirtatious hemlines and whimsical fabrics made a huge impression on the ice as well as on runways, which makes it the perfect feature for today's Trend Report.

Backstage
With fashion-forward femmes like Kate Moss, Erin Wasson, and Agyness Deyn influencing the way that women dress with their insouciant brand of chic (lots of vintage treasures and edgy accessories), we are always tuned in to the ways in which professional models are dressing. These industry insiders are constantly working with the best editors, stylists, and designers, so it makes sense that they look great between shows and shoots too! For today's story, we thought we would focus on ground zero of model-off-duty style in our semi-annual roundup What They Wear: Backstage!

Green Fashion
In honor of this year's Earth Day, we've decided to turn the spotlight on some of our favorite lines with eco-friendly practices and fashionable sensibilities. We've been sourcing green-minded brands for ages now—both for WhoWhatWear.com's content, but also because we're personally interested in supporting the environment—so it was totally thrilling to see all the amazing choices currently available. Rather than the utilitarian packaging and sad burlap-like sacks we were forced to chose from in years past, we uncovered loads of lovely lines that are sustainable and stylish. |

Lengerie Display
As faithful readers of WhoWhatWear.com no doubt know, boudoir-inspired styles are having a major moment right now and it's all about lingerie galore this spring! While your mother might not approve of these bra-baring looks, 'tis the season to reveal your underpinnings—in a fashionable way, of course! Of course, showing off one's foundation garments can be a decidedly tricky proposition, which is why it's good to know how directional dressers like Gwen Stefani and Irina Lazareanu execute this runway look in real life.

Nu Wave
When it comes to big fashion trends this season, we can't help but reference the inimitable Debbie Harry. Specifically, we're referring to Blondie's classic cover of John Holt's reggae hit, "The Tide is High." The combination of the two—the band's new wave spirit plus that ocean-referencing title—seems to encapsulate spring's amazing and edgy take on surf style for us. For visual interpretations of this vibe, all you have to do is check out the spring runways, which are flooded with stunning punk-surfer pieces galore. Offering a tantalizing blend of sporty silhouettes and counterculture spirit, this look is one trend wave we definitely want to ride.

Side Braids
Some people measure the passage of time by things like foliage or holidays, but around the WhoWhatWear.com office, our seasonal indicator is far more specific: we look for braids. Strange though it may seem, braids are an annual marker; as soon as the weather starts to warm up, they always pop up in some form or another. Over the past few years, we've documented the best braid trends, ranging from simple Heidi-style updos to intricate French iterations, as they appear on our favorite tastemakers. This year, the breakaway style is beyond simple, slightly slouchy, and took a starring turn on the spring runways: the side braid.

Kiera Knightley
Professionally Keira Knightley might be known for wearing her fair share of corsets, but when it comes to her personal style, the actress is anything but tightly laced. The British beauty's off-screen wardrobe choices are an enviable mix of Parisian tomboy-meets-prim sophisticate, as she tends to favor understated boots, slouchy beanies, and modest lines (of both the hem and neck variety). Rather than tackling every trend that comes rolling down the runway, Knightley plays with fashion in a more nuanced way. She experiments with texture, favors modern classics with a twist, and prefers to wear a sober palette (think: gray, blue, and beige) with an occasional pattern or bright red accent. Accordingly, for today's What Would She Wear story, we sought out subtly interesting pieces that embody our subject's coolly casual taste. From a textured top to a tremendous pair of tortoise sunglasses, we think you'll enjoy the selection of Knightley-inspired pieces we pulled for your shopping edification!
