NYC Fashion Week: Part 2
They say you can never have too much of a good thing, and we couldn't agree more especially when it comes to a double dose of New York Fashion Week outfit coverage! You see, we gathered so many looks that we couldn't help but share our findings with our equally enthralled enthusiasts du chic (that's you dear readers!) in this second serving of our biannual What They Wore story! Whether it's Rachel Zoe's marvelous Marc Jacobs number or Becka Diamond's terrific Thakoon dress, these nine style stars are certainly sustenance for the sartorial soul!
Rachel Zoe
We can always count on Rachel Zoe to make a directional and stylish statement, and the Marc Jacobs ensemble she wore to attend the designer's latest show has us begging for more! The star stylist married spring's manicured ruffles with next season's longer hemlines, making for an anything-but-basic all-black outfit, complete with opaque tights and satin Casadei Double Platform Pumps. Zoe balanced out her busy frock-bolero combo with minimal accessories like a Jack Vartanian ring, letting the fantastic cocktail-ready silhouette take center stage.
Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman is a staunch supporter of Laura and Kate Mulleavy, the sisters/design duo behind the cult line Rodarte. As such, we weren't surprised to see her at the Baryshnikov Arts Center Gala wearing a short-sleeved divinely draped dress from their Fall 2008 collection (which she also later wore to the Rodarte after-party). Portman grounded the ethereal frock by pairing it with thigh-high black boots, for a dreamy yet weather-appropriate ensemble that has us pledging label loyalty too!
Irina Lazareau
The enviably graceful Irina Lazareau (after all, she is a former ballerina!) absolutely sparkled when she attended the 3.1 Phillip Lim show on Wednesday. We are seriously lusting after the model-turned-musician's fashionably festive 3.1 Phillip Lim Sequined Shirtdress ($995), while her choice to pair it with leather paneled leggings adds a luxurious textural dimension that rings true to her signature style. We also love how Lazareau left her collar unadorned in light of her shimmery plunge, showing off her swan-like neck.
Becka Diamond
Former GOTM Becka Diamond has edgy-chic down to a science and deftly applied this sartorial aesthetic to her ensemble while attending Thakoon's Fall 2010 show. Her Topshop Black Mongolian Jacket ($330) contrasted nicely with her printed Thakoon dress (it's from the spring collection), while the addition of Eddie Borgo bangles and a Pamela Love ring round out this glamorous and youthful after-hours look. We like how she kept the rest of her ensemble winter-ready with black tights and Repetto booties, and are equally smitten with her signature party-ready, kohl-rimmed eyes.
Julia Restoin Roitfeld
Spotted at the Moncler Grenoble presentation at Pier 59, Julia Restoin Roitfeld looked purr-fectly bundled up for the mid-February outdoor event. Though the Parisian looked lovely in understated black basics (skinny jeans, sweater, oversized scarf), it was her leopard-print coat that really stole the spotlight. And while this isn't the first time we've seen a trendsetter rock a terrific cat-patterned jacket, we are still so wild about the look that we think it most certainly will have legs all through the transitional season!
Whitney Port
The City star and emerging fashion designer looked very autumn-appropriate to attend the Erin Fetherston show last Sunday. Port toughened up her tan Fetherston frock with a leather Members Only jacket, architectural bangles, and opaque Wolford tights. We love that while she stayed true to a neutral palette even down to her toes with her Pour La Victoire Adalene Pumps ($193), she also applied her signature pops of color in the form of her metallic red Giuseppe Zanotti clutch, fuchsia lip color, and orange creamsicle nails.
Kate Lanphear
Seeing what Elle's Style Director Kate Lanphear wears is always a highlight of NYFW and for good reason! This influential insider always seems to have her finger on the pulse of what is most in demand for even the most ardent fashion followers. Seen late last week at Bryant Park attending a few shows, the trendsetter opted for an animal pattered fuzzy coat with a pair of noir skinny jeans and her signature tough-yet-luxe jewelry and statement-making shoes. Needless to say, we can't get enough of La Lanphear, and will keep our eyes peeled for what she selects for the rest of the F/W 10 show season!
Zoe Kravitz
This rock star heiress is a go-to girl for stellar street style, and we love how she channeled her own sartorial insouciance for Erin Fetherston's fall runway show. Her head-to-toe vintage ensemble, polished off with Chanel flats, looks current in a black-and-white palette, and we love how she echoed the luxurious fabrics seen on the fall runways with her crushed velvet coat. Additionally, while her hero-headpiece is in line with her bohemian-chic aesthetic and looks lovely atop her raven locks, it is actually a status accessory, as many of Fetherston's front-row ladies were adorned with wildflower wreaths.
Lauren Santo Domingo
When it comes to style, Lauren Santo Domingo is the epitome of modern elegance. Always in a chic streamlined frock or a thoughtfully pulled-together ensemble, she sets the bar for New York's social set. Of course, the Vogue contributing editor's Narciso Rodriguez runway show outfit did not disappoint: Chloe's striped sweater and Fleur Bag ($1395) (both from the fashion house's F/W 09 collection), and edgy leather pants are all exceptional elements in achieving this unthinkably stylish NYFW look!
