What were they wearing?

The Winter Olympics are well underway in Vancouveras you giant slalom and figure skating fans no doubt knowbut we're more interested in passing the inspirational outfit torch to you, dear readers, via these outstanding looks in today's edition of What Was She Wearing: Answers!. And while Jessica Stroup, Kristen Bell, Nicole Richie, and Jessica Stam may not zig-zag down snowy hills in record-breaking time or land a triple axel combo perfectly, but when it comes to looking chic, this fashion-forward foursome certainly meets the gold standard!

Jessica Stroup
90210-starlet Jessica Stroup looked adorable and weather-appropriate while doing some shopping in New York City earlier this week. The darling dresser was snapped sporting a Black Drape Wrap Around Sweater ($187) and a White Gathered A-Line Tee ($128), both from alice + olivia's new Base collection of classic staples, a soft and slouchy pair of Topshop trousers, and Brian Atwood's Eve Pumps ($585) in nude leather. We love the laid-back and effortless appeal of this ensemble and recommend that you check out Tory Burch's Mako Wrap Cardigan ($225), C&C California's Vintage Classic Tee ($41), Kimchi Blue's Tie Crosshatch Pants ($58), and BCBGeneration's Alena Pumps ($70) to help you achieve that Stroup swagger, too!

Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell may be known for her charm and comedic timing, but WhoWhatWear.com readers have the highest regard for her darling personal style as well. Seen out and about in New York City last week, the When In Rome-star managed to stay warm and look haute in Smythe's Patch Pocket Coat (from the F/W 09 season), Tracy Reese's Draped Pleated Skirt ($250), Love Quotes' Scarf ($88) in Ale, and Jenni Kayne's Black Hi Cut Sandals ($395). Get a similar style situation vis-à-vis Kimchi Blue's Femme Trench Coat ($98), Brazen Fringe's Linen Blend Scarf ($48), and Aldo's Catanese Shoes ($100). Just finish off the ensemble with an off-white slouchy beret like ASOS' Ribbed Oversized Beanie ($18) and you'll be the Bell of the ball!

Nicole Richie
Nicole Richie was all smiles while promoting her debut contemporary clothing collection, Winter Kate, at Bloomingdales in New York last week. The multi-tasking mom-of-two looked leggy and lovely in a pair of RVCA x Erin Wasson Hish Jean Shorts ($69, on sale), opaque tights, and Christian Louboutin's Miss Booties (unfortunately no longer available, but we like these Regal Ankle Booties ($295) by Rebecca Taylor just as much!). Of course it was Richie's topspecifically her Dylan Vest ($1350)from her Winter Kate line that really captivated our readers' attention. Make sure to pick up this sumptuous suede style or h.i.p's Lace Vest ($26) and layer it over your favorite breezy blouse to get that bona fide bohemian look in seconds flat!

Jessica Stam
Due to her top model status, Jessica Stam's face is known around the world, but it seems that Who What Wear readers are more intrigued by her personal style than her famous visage. It's no wonder: seen here at the Interview Magazine fete during NYFW, Stam looked effortless, chic, and epitomized that model-off-duty élan! Sadly, her Phi jacket is no longer available, but try Mike & Chris' Dede Fleece Motorcycle Jacket ($235) or Graham & Spencer's Fur Collar Vest ($407) layered over a cozy cardi instead. Stam's Chanel sweater is certainly a smart choice, but we also quite like the Sailor Cardigan ($38) from BDG. Just throw on a pair of soft silk trousers and slip into tough-chic ankle boots like ZiGiny's Triumph Booties ($120), which bare a striking resemblance to her Guiseppe Zanotti for Balmain Suede Ankle Boots (from the F/W 09 collection), and you'll stand out Stam-style!
