What They Wore: Golden Globes 2010

Awards shows are always a bit nerve-racking for the nominees, however for the 67th annual Golden Globe awards show held this past Sunday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the uncharacteristically gloomy and rainy Los Angeles sky also made the already high-wattage dressing even more dramatic! While we were initially worried that the weather would result in bland—or practical, which is even worse—red carpet offerings, happily our anxiety was for naught! Our lovely ladies chicly weathered the literal and metaphorical storm with bells on and we couldn't be happier to bring you all of the attendant details about our favorite fashionable ensembles.

When it came to our favorite femmes, the looks we loved most shared a (semi-to-very) streamlined silhouette and were accented with lots of feminine details. Some wore a modern take on the classic mermaid shape (à la Maggie Gyllenhaal's RM by Roland Mouret dress or Drew Barrymore's Atelier Versace gown) while others chose more body-skimming columns (think: Rose Byrne's Lanvin number or the glitzy Stella McCartney frock that Anna Paquin picked). But while the attendees might have restrained themselves when it came to the size of their skirts, they definitely didn't skimp on the details. In fact, these women opted for bold romance, via loads of intricate beading, scads of silky ruffles, and beautifully draped dresses. The results: gorgeous glamour galore! (Even newcomer Carey Mulligan's Fred Leighton necklace as headband felt decidedly enchanting and fanciful). Now that the awards have been distributed and the endless celebratory soirees have come to an end, we invite you to sit back and feast on the visual eye candy we've gathered for today's Golden Globe-centric feature!
