April showers might bring May flowers, but the end of January only means one thing at WhoWhatWear.com: packing panic. After all, the international fashion weeks are right around the corner and we're busy preparing for the festivities. (As former Girl Scouts, we believe in being prepared and that means it's never too early to start planning outfits!) But no matter how frantic our office gets, we're never too swamped to bring you all the sartorial specifics on the latest looks worn by your favorite stylish stars. So while we gear up to bring you all of the fashion industry's insider information, make sure you don't miss today's detail-packed edition of What Was She Wearing!
Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron is known for her powerful on-screen performances, but one of her recent off-duty ensembles really caught our readers' attention! The stunning star of The Road wore a Thakoon Addition dress from the Fall 2009 collection while dashing between appointments in Los Angeles earlier this week. Though her floral frock is no longer available, be sure to check out ASOS' Chiffon Printed Drop Waist Dress ($60), which would look amazing with your favorite opaque black tights. (A chic solution to any transitional dressing conundrums!) Finally, slip into some patent pumps like Stuart Weitzman's Madison Pumps ($298) and throw on your favorite moto jacket to complete the look. Theron's black jacket is a vintage treasure, but ASOS' Rib Collar Leather Bomber ($153) is also a great go-to!
Leighton Meester
Leighton Meester may be known for her small-screen persona, but she certainly can make a dramatic stylish statement on her off time too. Seen at the book launch event for Gossip Girl costume designer Eric Daman's new book You Know You Want It, the darling dresser wore a sophisticated Louis Vuitton outfit from the spring collection. Her Mesh Jacket ($2605), Flocked Skirt ($1338) are both chic as can be, and her Lace Transparent Knit Dress Top (which is actually a short frock) looks terrific as a blouse, n'est pas? As evidenced by our overflowing inbox, you really flipped for the entire ensemble, so make sure to check out Grai's Raw Edge Leather Jacket ($1255), Topshop's Long Sleeve Scoop Top ($20), and Elizabeth and James' Sequin Embellished Silk Skirt ($495), for look-a-like alternatives. Her Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquiere Zinc Grey Suede Pumps ($1085) add a nice neutral finishing touch, but we also like Daniblack's Raquel Heels ($118) which will help mimic Meester's masterful mix!
Chloe Sevigny
Golden Globe winning actress Chloe Sevigny always gets it right when it comes to clothing! The Big Love star wisely picked a beautifully printed pair of Chloe pants from the French fashion house's recent resort collection. Her Shantung Grand Leopard Pants ($1080, 212.717.8220) are lovely for spring—and also come in a blouse, as well! Of course, if you are keen on a cat-patterned trouser, then be sure to try ASOS' Leopard Harem Trousers ($48) for a similar look. Sevigny's Miu Miu Black Suede Sandals ($595, 310.247.2227) are the ideal way to add a little strappy and sexy kick to your transitional wardrobe. Just top off the entire look with a snug cover up; Sevigny opted for an Oasis leather biker (which is sadly no longer available), but do try their Floppy Denim Biker Jacket ($135), for a great alternative. It's cropped, features the same arm-detail as Sevigny's selection, and it's sure to be a smash during the warmer spring months!
Olivia Palermo
Olivia Palermo is always at the top of our most-requested list! Seen here at the Bowery Hotel in New York, she managed to look polished and demure, without looking stuffy or too traditional! The City star rocked a furry Antik Batik Hima Gilet ($444), which added a bohemian touch to her ladylike Diane von Furstenberg Zucca Carmen Dots Dress ($465). Get a similar style by trying out ASOS' Printed Jersey V Back Dress ($48) with a faux fur gilet like Bisou Bisou's Faux Fur Vest ($50) for her perfectly chic combination! All that's left is a super stylish pair of patent heels like Topshop's Gabby Ankle High Shoes ($135) and you'll be ready to attend your next uptown cocktail party before you head downtown for a little after-hours fun!—Kate Mulling
