What Was She Wearing: Answers!

For the decade's first edition of What Was She Wearing: Answers! we have gathered a truly standout selection of well-dressed fashionphiles. Whether Chloe Sevigny's patterned pants piqued your interest or Jennifer Connelly's Balenciaga display had you drooling, we've got all the information about this immaculately appointed quartet. After all, we are always determined to solve all of your celebrity-clothing questions, and, unlike training for the marathon or cutting out a piece of post-supper cake, this is a resolution we are ecstatic to keep!

Vanessa Hudgens
We could all learn a lesson from the cozy and stylish outfit High School Musical-star Vanessa Hudgens wore on a coffee run in Los Angeles late last week. The singer/actress demonstrated her mastery of smart dressing when she donned a sweet floral frock, patterned tights, and an oversized cardigan—all from Free People—a combo that's easy on the eyes and budget-friendly, too! Be sure to pick up ASOS' Pretty Floral Dress ($48) and Topshop's Knitted Over Sized Cardigan ($100) for similar pieces. All you will need to complete this Hudgens-inspired outfit is a pair of suede flat boots. Though the darling dresser's Joie boots are smart, also feel free to also check out Deena & Ozzy's Over The Knee Boots ($108) or Free People's Joy Ride Over The Knee Boots ($98). And remember: this outfit isn't just great for winter, it is also an A+ option for the upcoming spring months, as well!

Erin Wasson
Model-turned-muse-turned-designer Erin Wasson knows how to look seriously smoldering. The LuvLow designer (who is about to debut her new costume collection this spring—watch this space for more information!) was seen at a Maybelline launch event in London looking sexy in her Mark Fast LRD (from the F/W 09 season). Though her exact style has completely sold out, we recommend you check out the Canadian designer's One Sleeve Mini Dress with Ladder Stitch ($2080) for an equally body-con cut-out piece. Of course, for those of you who are interested in a more economical option, we suggest you check out ASOS' Off The Shoulder Body-Con Dress ($17), which matches the original in style and color but has it beat in the price department. Just finish off the look with a killer pair of black heels, like Wasson's Alejandro Ingelmo's Sophia 140mm Pumps ($450, 212.206.3928) or Max Azria's Hanna Platform Pumps ($348), and you'll be to be party ready in a flash!

Rihanna
Risk-taking Rihanna rocked her signature uber-cool style when spotted last week in New York City. The songbird was spotted wearing an Isabel Marant plaid top and Pleasure Doing Business' Seven Banded Skirt ($99), but what really grabbed your attention was her outerwear option and accessories. While her Bally Fox Fur Collar ($1295, 212.751.9082) may not be for everyone, our readers seemed to all agree that her Balenciaga booties (from the Pre-Fall 09 collection) and Charley 5.0 Youth Gone Wild Jacket ($279) are seriously desirable! Satisfy your brown-boot cravings by checking out Ash's Icone Ankle Booties ($255) or London Rebel's Cuff Ankle Boots ($26), as they mimic the height and color detail of Rihanna's soles and will surely make your friends sing your stylish praises!

Jennifer Connelly
Though we generally prefer a mix of labels to a head-to-toe designer look, there is something to be said about a woman who can wear a right-off-the-runway outfit and still make it her own. Jennifer Connelly, seen above outside of the David Letterman Show, is clearly an example of a woman wearing the clothes, and not the other way around. The beautiful star, who is busy promoting her new film Creation, stunned in a Balenciaga S/S 10 Turquoise and Red Nappa Leather Skirt ($9995, 310.854.0557) and Gray and White Suede Booties ($1875). If you are a fan of her ensemble, but can't commit to such steep price tags, fear not as we have dutifully picked some great alternative apparel. Try either LaROK's Flight of Fancy Skirt ($288) or Topshop's Laser Cut Feather Skirt ($118) paired with L.A.M.B.'s Zea Strappy Dress Pumps ($355) or Baker's Stacey Booties ($70). Worn separately, these picks are certainly stellar, but feel free to combine, as we think the whole is greater than the sum of their already amazingly chic parts!
